The accident of the Ever Given in the Suez Canal can stand as a symbol for the course of our society. Excessive, too fat, too full, inflexible. In the meantime, we have built up such an economic monster that the grounding of a ridiculous ship with a length of 400 meters and 20,000 containers affects world trade right into our own living rooms. This shows how inextricably interlocked the individual cogs are. The solution? Return to the regional economy, to do-it-yourself, to repairing and upcycling. In my opinion, the container tanker “global trade and production” is no longer maneuverable.
